Chace Murphy, The “Voice of Kyle Field”, teams up with another Texas A&M University program, the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Science’s Center for Educational Technologies. Since 2001, Murphy has served as the PA voice for his alma mater’s football shrine. Chace Murphy, fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1998, is the third voice of Kyle Field since World War II. Murphy’s full-time job is manager of public affairs at Atmos Energy. He is also the voice of A&M’s men’s basketball games at Reed Arena. Chace is known for coining the phrases, “fightin’ Texas Aggie first down” and “It is…third down.” which seems to rally Texas Aggie comrades on game days. The CET expects Murphy to bring a similar enthusiasm to CET’s various product lines.
Murphy will serve as the voice for the CET’s upcoming products releasing this fall. Murphy will share his voice over talents in the veterinary medicine program’s new curricula. His voice will also be heard in courses delivered across the world, particularly the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Sanitary & Phytosanitary training program to Pakistan. Murphy will begin production this fall on a domestic online continuing education program funded by the USDA for Foreign Animal Disease Diagnosticians.
Chace’s voice will provide a new level of professional voice talent to the CET. Murphy’s use of aural ques highlights new concepts in a way that keeps learners interested and attentive; while his strategic pacing allows learners to process this new information. Richard K. Morton once wrote, “… voice is one of the teacher’s greatest assets. In its qualities and skillful use lie much of the secret in the success of many teachers.” Through this partnership, Murphy raises expectations of voice-talent in educational publications to the level of mainstream media.
