Enteral nutrition is vital for maintenance of the immune system, gastrointestinal health, and postsurgical healing. Recent studies show that early enteral nutrition improves postsurgical healing and outcomes in patients with sepsis, trauma, and other conditions. This module will discuss the placement and use of nasoesophageal (NE) and nasogastric (NG) tubes and esophagostomy (E) tubes.
With an approximate contact time of 1 hour, Enteral Nutrition: Feeding Tube Placement includes the following:
- Part 1: Esophagostomy Tubes (Contact time: 0.5 hours)
- Part 2: Nasoesophageal and Nasogastric Tubes (Contact time: 0.5 hours)
All modules include an assessment pack that can be utilized to support formative or summative assessment of students.
